Today’s album from Don Ganter’s personal collection is an all-time classic from Waylon Jennings!
Waylon Jennings “Dreaming My Dreams” came out in 1975 and helped him win Male Vocalist of the year at the following CMA’s.
This one was pulled in and out so much that the sides are all completely apart. Also, there might or might not be burger grease stains all over it lol.
So many great songs on the album! The three that stand out the most though are “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way”, “Waymore’s Blues,” and “Bob Wills Is Still The King.” Those three became staples of Waylon’s music and songs that most visitors to the Dixie Chicken throughout the 70’s and 80’s heard time and time again.
Just because those are the most famous, doesn’t mean they’re the only ones worth a listen. The title track “Dreaming My Dreams With You” is one of the most beautiful sad songs ever recorded. “High Time” is one of the classic outlaw sounding country songs. Waylon sure could go from one end to the other as well as any other artist in country music.
When you find some time to just kick back with a cold beer and you’re feeling outlaw, put this record on and you can almost feel like you’re at home in the Dixie Chicken!
